Communications policy has to be at the very centre of an organization's values. Key messages should operate at all levels of an organization, from internal staff communications to websites, sales staff, and senior executives.   elenchus gets involved at the very beginning, ensuring the messages are developed and can be clearly and easily explained.   elenchus believes that good communications makes good policy.

McGrathelenchus COMMUNICATIONS SOLUTIONS is headed up by our Director of Communications Policy, John McGrath

elenchusoffers an integrated package of services that gives companies the confidence their message is gettng across. From the development of a strategic communications plan during the earliest stages of policy and program development, to communications planning, media training, and crisis management, elenchusknows that what you say can be as critical to the success of an organization as what you do.   elenchusalso realizes it has to be a constantly evolving message; in this internet-oriented society, a wide range of platforms and social media need to be used to reach consumers and stakeholders at all stages of project planning and execution.

Communications Planning

image The current media environment is chaotic. Newspapers, radio and television stations have fewer journalists chasing more stories, so it's gettng harder and harder to cut through the static and make an impact. At the same time, more and more consumers are abandoning the mainstream media, and gettng their news though blogs and RSS feeds, as well social media such as Facebook and Twitter. Often it's news there first, before it's makes its way onto television and into newspapers.

elenchusknows the media environment, and how to use it to your advantage. This begins with the planning of the event, to the invitation to reporters and writers, to ensuring monitoring and follow-up after the fact.

Media Training & Crisis Management

image It's not easy to tell your organization's story. Senior officials often know all the facts, but find it difficult to deliver them in a way that connects with the public. And then there are days when a crisis occurs and reporters are on your door-step, demanding an answer. Our expertise prepares your organization in advance to handle the crisis, starting from the first response to an emergency to the wrap-up news conference. We train your leadership to develop effective media performance, giving them the confidence they need when being interviewed by reporters. Our associates give executives a framework for telling their company's message in an engaging and believable manner.

elenchushas conducted popular and well-received sessions for the Environmental Commissioner of Ontario, and the Independent Electricity System Operator. As one participant said recently, "Thanks again for a terrific seminar. You have really energized a number of people here."

Stakeholder Communications

image elenchusdoes not believe that every action has to have an equal and opposite reaction. Companies can reduce conflict with stakeholders and interest groups by commiting to a two-way communications process, and by taking their concerns into account during the earliest stages of project development.

elenchusfacilitators ensure that while there may be conflict in the development process, there is also a respect that can lead to a solution that both sides can live with. This will reduce delays in regulatory approvals, and build a foundation for on-going positive involvement in the community.
