Princess Margaret Hospital's Ride to Conquer Cancer

Right now, 2 in 5 people will hear the words: "You have cancer" in their lifetime. With support, it is possible to Conquer Cancer in Our Lifetime. Since its inception in 2008 John Todd, President of Elenchus, has participated in the ENBRIDGE RIDE TO CONQUER CANCER as part of the Pacesetter Team. The Ride benefits The Campbell Family Institute at The Princess Margaret, one of the top 5 cancer research centres in the world. The Princess Margaret has assembled a team of top doctors and scientists whose search for new discoveries and improved patient outcomes will have a real impact in our community, across Canada, and around the world. In six years, The Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer has raised over $80.2 million dollars and we are proud to be a part of that! To date, the Pacesetters have raised over $2.5 million that has been invested in the equipment, infrastructure, robotics and information technology needed to keep building the GU BioBank to allow Dr. Fleshner and his team develop the new clinical tests that will be key to saving lives in the coming years and decades.

SickKids Foundation

Elenchus has been a proud supporter of the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) for many years. SickKids is Canada's most research-intensive hospital and the largest centre dedicated to improving children's health in the country. As innovators in child health, SickKids improves the health of children by integrating care, research and teaching. With a staff that includes professionals from all disciplines of health care and research, SickKids provides the best in complex and specialized care by creating scientific and clinical advancements, sharing knowledge and expertise and championing the development of an accessible, comprehensive and sustainable child health system.

Heart & Stroke Foundation

The Heart and Stroke Foundation aims to build healthier hearts and minds across Canada by bringing life-saving knowledge to the communities they serve, through their local area offices and the healthcare providers they support with education and resources. Over the last 60 years they have invested more than $1.35 billion in heart and stroke research. In that time, the death rate from heart disease and stroke has declined by more than 75 per cent. The Foundation’s health promotion and advocacy programs across the country are saving lives every day. Working together, their employees, volunteers, donors and world-class researchers have made the Heart and Stroke Foundation what it is today: Canada’s most widely recognized and trusted authority on cardiovascular health. Their mission is to create healthy lives free of heart disease and stroke.

Canadian Opera Company

Elenchus donates used office furniture to the Canadian Opera Company for use in their under-supplied offices. Based in Toronto, the Canadian Opera Company (COC) is the largest producer of opera in Canada and one of the largest in North America. The company enjoys an international reputation for artistic excellence and creative innovation. For 60 years the Canadian Opera Company has relied on the generosity of individuals, corporations and foundations. Support, in all forms, allows the COC to continue developing talented Canadian artists and making the art of opera more accessible to all.

United Way

United Way’s work is based on a simple belief—what unites us is ultimately far more powerful than what divides us. Elenchus is a proud sponsor of the Toronto Hydro Annual Charity Tournament, which contributes to the Community Fund. The Community Fund supports strategies aimed at improving the social conditions in our city of Toronto. In the short term, United Way does this by meeting immediate needs—helping individuals when they need it most, and in the long term by addressing the root causes of social problems through a systemic approach that works to change whole communities. United Way Toronto focuses their efforts on the three main areas that are essential to creating opportunities for a good life. These include helping people move from poverty to possibility, building healthy people and strong communities, and helping kids be all they can be.

Township of Alfred Plantagenet Public Library

The Township of Alfred Plantagenet Public Library exists to promote the communication of ideas, develop informed citizens and enrich the cultural and intellectual lives of the people of the Township of Alfred Plantagenet. Elenchus is pleased to join Embrun Hydro in support of the library.
